What part of your day is the biggest problem for you now?
Whatever part of the day that you find is the biggest problem, write it down.
Now think about why it is a problem?
Is there something that you can do to make it easier?
Is it when you get home from work, and you don’t have a clue what to make for dinner?
Then start planning your meals on the weekends or on your day off.
Type up a grocery list with all the items you buy most often on it and make copies. Then, as you run low on anything, circle it on your list.
Assign one day each week to do all of your grocery shopping.
At the bottom of the list, allow room to write down the meals you have planned for the coming week. (Check your calendar too, is there something scheduled that will make it difficult to have a regular dinner? If so, plan on sandwiches or something really quick and easy that night).
Is the hardest part of the day when you first wake up and you are trying to get everyone dressed, fed and out the door on time?
Then start planning the night before.
Have the kids shower at night.
Help the kids pick out what they want to wear the next day.
Make all of the lunches, get everyone to help.
Plan a fast breakfast and set out everything you’ll need.
Ask the kids what they need for the next day; Do they have any papers that need to be signed? Any extra supplies that they will need?
Teach them to pack their backpacks at night.
Have them place their shoes, coats, hats, gloves, and backpacks by the door. Each child will need to grab their lunch from the refrigerator and they’re ready to go.
Get them in the habit of planning ahead too, and taking responsibility for their own things.
